About Feet First Podiatry

The clinic was opened in 2016 by Claire Falconer who gained her podiatry degree at Queen Margaret University. A passion for helping others led Claire down the path of medicine and into a career that allows her to provide patients with high-quality healthcare.

Claire is registered with the health care professional council (HCPC) where registrants must meet standards of proficiency in order to become members and remain on the register this is considered necessary to protect the public.  This gives you the reassurance that your feet are in good hands. It is not advised to accept medical treatment from anyone who is not on the HCPC register. Check here for complete peace of mind.

All new patients must provide details and sign a patient agreement form before undergoing any treatment. This can be downloaded by clicking on the word document below.

Routine Foot care

The Care You Deserve

Routine care  includes an extensive foot health assessment with a  full review of medical history and medication as  HCPC Registered Podiatrists we take time to understand any concerns you may have about your feet. Hard skin and corns will be gently removed and nails trimmed and filed. A diabetic foot check will be carried out if required.  The treatment is normally completed with the application of a foot moisturiser. For patients that can not make it to clinic due to mobility issues a home visit can be arranged.

Fungal nails

Festination

Most fungal nail infections occur as a result of the fungi that cause athlete's foot infecting the nails.  Traditional methods of treatment can be ineffective because the active ingredients usually cannot penetrate to the whole of the infection at Feet First we are able to painlessly drill small holes into the infected nail. The nail is then sprayed with an antifungal spray on a daily basis because of the microscopic holes, the active antifungal ingredient is able to permeate the nail and underlying nail bed where the infection is located. This gives the antifungals a chance to kill the fungi.

Verrucae Treatment

Helping It Along.

In many cases, evidence suggests that verrucae will disappear of their own accord within six months for children but longer for adults (up to two years). If you are worried about your verrucae and/or self-treatment is not working and/or the verrucae appears to be getting larger or more painful acid based treatments which are stronger than regular ‘over the counter’ can be used in an effort to treat the verrucae.

Biomechanical Assessments

Helping Your Recovery

A biomechanical assessment is when we examine the way your lower limbs work, checking for abnormalities and possible causes of pain in the foot, ankle, knee and back. We can help you deal with plantar fasciitis and hopefully speed up recovery.
